A song about the wealth division in the UK.
The rich get richer and richer by very unscrupulous means. It's plain for all to see that they really don't care a damn about who they trample on in their quest to amass even more money.
The problem is, the members of the current UK government are firmly on their side.
Desolation Street (c) David A Briggs 2024
Oh watch the rain,
down here on Desolation Street.
amid all the chaos,
the broken glass and concrete.
Discarded bottles and cans,
there's no regeneration plans.
High up in their ivory towers,
they smile and rub their hands,
... they smile and rub their hands.
But the word down on the street,
yes, down here on Desolation Street,
(is) "we're sinking into the muddy water,
we're already in too deep".
So, what can be done?
there's no rhyme or reason,
why it's been done.
In another brighter world,
we'd be having fun,
we should be having fun.
With their off-shore bank account,
luxury limousines, that they can't do without.
Sipping champagne, eating canapes,
while others have to struggle on the minimum wage.
guitar solo #1:
Oh watch the rain,
down here on Desolation Street.
High up in their ivory towers,
they smile and rub their hands,
... they smile and rub their hands.
guitar solo #2:
we're already in too deep
we're already in too deep
we're already in too deep
Discarded bottles and cans,
there's no regeneration plans.
High up in their ivory towers,
they smile and rub their hands,
